Goods worth lakhs gutted as major fire breaks inside supermarket

A major tragedy was averted on Monday morning, when a massive fire broke inside a supermarket located at posh Shankar Nagar locality falling in limits of Civil Lines police station. Though, almost major portion of the supermarket’s stock to the tune of worth several lakhs gutted in the fire, no casualty was reported in the incident.
 
A amily residing in the same building was rescued by patrolling team with the help of locals, said police, adding that a woman was rushed to a nearby hospital after she fell unconscious due to the smoke. According to Civil Lines police, inferno raged inside a Shimla Big Shop during morning hour located at densely populated area.
 
The intensity of fire was very high, which immediately enveloped two floors of the supermarket. After being informed about the fire, a police patrolling team; Dial-112 and fire tenders rushed to the spot for undertaking rescue exercise. As many as three fire tenders were rushed the spot to douse the flames flaring high on the air. It took over one hour to control the high-flaring fire, even as the investigation is on to establish the prima-facie cause behind the mishap, said police sources.
