Two youths arrested for robbery

Two youths were arrested on Friday in connection with robbery recently took place at village Guma falling in limits of Urla police station and a mobile handset looted by the duo recovered from their possession, police said. The arrested were identified as Himanshu Verma alias Lucky (19) and Rahul Rajput (19), both residents of Birgaon under Urla police station.
 
 
According to police sources, three bike borne robbers in March this year, robbed of mobile handset and Rs 400 from a person identified as Ram Lal Nishad (21) when he was heading towards Hirapur. In a wake of the incident, Nishad has lodged a complaint with Urla police station. Following the complaint of victim, police have registered an offence under Section 392 of Indian Penal Code (IPC), which amounting to punishment for robbery, and started investigation, said police.
 
 
Based on precise tip-off, police have arrested Himanshu and Rahul while search is on for Manoj Prajapati, still at large, police said, adding that looted mobile handset has also been recovered from the possession of arrested duo.
 
Chain snatching at Canal Road
 
Raipur police, which is struggling to crack cases of burglary recently reported at separate locations of the city, is now facing another challenge in the form of chain snatching. A robber has snatched golden ‘mangalsutra’ of a 36-year-old woman at usually crowded Canal Road falling in limits of Telibandha police station late on yesterday evening, police informed.
 
 
An unidentified robber pushed the victim woman identified as Neeta Choudhary (36), a resident of Shyam Nagar, from behind and snatched her mangalsutra to the tune of around Rs 35000, said Telibandha Station House Officer (SHO) Naresh Patel, adding that the victim was taking walk on Canal Road when the incident took place. Before, the victim woman could balance herself, robber managed to flee from the spot, added SHO Patel.
 
 
In a wake of the incident, the victim woman lodged a complaint with Telibandha police station. Following the complaint of victim woman, police have registered an offence against unidentified robber under Section 392 of Indian Penal Code (IPC), which amounting to punishment for robbery, and started investigation. Efforts to collect footages from CCTV cameras installed in the area have been initiated, said police sources.
