Police flag march to infuse confidence among voters

In order to infuse confidence among the voters to exercise their vote fearlessly as well as to maintain law and order during the Lok Sabha polling scheduled in Bhopal on May 12, senior police officers, including CRPF forces, STF and SAF, have staged a flag march in sensitive areas of Old and New Bhopal, said Bhopal (Urban) DIG Irshad Wali on Saturday. He added that the district police officials, including CSPs and SDOPs, have been asked to take preventive measures, including deployment of police forces, at sensitive places and booking the law breakers under appropriate sections of CrPC and IPC in their jurisdictional limits. DIG Wali said that 300 personnel, including teams of local police, CRPF jawans and traffic police personnel, have carried out flag march in old city while people have been asked to cast their votes without fear on the polling day. In the flag march a total of 300 personnel and officials, including RAF, STF, SAF, were present in the flag march.
 
Team also inspected polling stations falling under the old city area. Checking drives are being conducted at inter-state and inter-district check posts followed by actions against the defaulters, he added. The flag march started at 9 am from Lal Parade ground and passed through Talaiya trisection, Moti Masjid, Royal Market, Shahjehanabad, Army Bajaria trisection, Regiment road, Teelajamalpura, Gautam Nagar, DIG bungalow, Arif Nagar, Devki Nagar, Housing Board Karond, Best Price, 80 ft road, Ganesh Mandir, Nadra bus stand, Alpana trisection, Bharat talkies trisection and culminated at Lal Parade.
 
Whereas in New Bhopal, it covered areas including Prabhat Chouraha, Chetak Bridge, Board Office, Apex Bank Tiraha, Rangmahal Chouraha, MANIT Chouraha, 10 no stop, Habibganj railway station road, Mansarowar Chouraha, DB Mall, Jail Road before reaching to Lal Parade and during this locals were appealed to co-operate with the ad ministration for implementing the model code of conduct and making the election free and fair. A total of 55 vehicles, including 1 pilot vehicle, 1 Rudra vehicle, 2 Vajra, 6 buses and 10 four-wheelers conducted flag march in north and south divisions.
