Digvijay promises prosperous Bhopal in Vision Document

Promises string of development works, satellite town, increasing income of people, job opportunities, Narmada water in every home, security of women and children etc 
 
CONGRESS Lok Sabha candidate for Bhopal and former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh released document ‘Vision Bhopal’ in which he has listed the works he will do if he wins Lok Sabha elections. Digvijay Singh promised to develop Bhopal State Capital Region (B-SCR) on the lines of NCR, Narmada water to every house, hassle-free transportation, efforts to increase income of common man by making city state-of-the-art, turning Bhopal into a tourist hub etc. Digvijay Singh’s Vision Document also emphasises to provide film city status to Bhopal, employment to youth by upgrading education standards, developing satellite towns, IT city and special economic zones, world class textile trading hub in Bairagarh, various facilities to farmers, creating Bhopal job portal, sports hub, super speciality hospitals etc. After releasing the Vision Document at Congress headquarters, Digvijay Singh said that in last 15 years’ rule of BJP, Bhopal got lagged behind in the race of development.
 
He alleged that previous Shivraj Government was least bothered about development of Bhopal and was busy in minting money. He added that Bhopal has immense possibility in development sector and it got lagged behind in comparison to development which took place in big cities such as Bengaluru and Nagpur etc. He claimed that Bhopal could be developed as a global city. He said as per norms, master plan has to be brought out in every 10 years in which land use is identified for various works. But since 2005, no master plan could be brought out for the city.
 
He also spoke about development of old city but he agreed that for any planner, it is an uphill task to develop old Bhopal. He also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi lacked clear understanding while introducing Smart City.
 
 
Major points of Vision Document
 
F Bhopal development plan is inspired by Raja Bhoj and his concept of city development along with Rajiv Gandhi’s idea in 1970 and 1980s of a national capital region such as Gurgaon, Faridabad, Noida (Delhi). On the lines of NCR, the plan is to develop a Bhopal State Region (B-SCR). In this, youth and farmers from adjacent areas will get ample opportunities for employment, self-employment, with access to best available resources. This will increase income and improve people’s lifestyle in Bhopal.
F Efforts will be made to increase income of common man by making city state-of-the-art.
F Safety for All Across Bhopal by roping in services of national level experts for safety of women, children and elderly. Preservation of historic Upper Lake. Workplan for development of all water bodies.
F Healthy living will be promoted by making city pollution-free and eco-friendly for citizens.
F Construction of tourist circuit in view of hundreds of ancient historical structures, religious places of significance and wildlife. Availability of better transport will be ensured to enhance activities of tourists at national and international level.
F To improve air connectivity of Bhopal, efforts will be made to launch international flights including connecting Bhopal with all major cities of the country. Establishment of India’s first air craft engine overhaul engineering facility in Bhopal and to turn Raja Bhoj Airport Hub for domestic airlines.
F Development of Satellite Towns and development of corridors under Bhopal-State Capital Region (B-SCR). Names of corridors include Vidisha Bhopal Corridor, Berasia Bhopal Corridor, Sehore Bhopal Corridor, Raisen Bhopal Corridor, Narsinghgarh Bhopal Corridor etc.
F Employment opportunities to people in both urban and rural areas in satellite towns. Development of food processing units and horticulture and to link products of farmers and businessmen with road, rail and airways so that they can connect directly to state, interstate and international markets.
F Sugar industry, food processing and processing plant at Sehore. Medical College in Sehore. Residential facility for working women and girl students.
F Promoting Science and Research Science City.
F Opening of Mega Logistics and Warehouse Zone through which products could be easily transported to any other parts of India.
F To develop Bhopal as Medical capital of Central India. Opening cancer hospital and research institute. F Treatment rehabilitation and employment to gas victims and construction of Gas Memorial to pay tributes to those who lost their lives in gas tragedy.
F To revive golden old days of hockey in Bhopal by constructing a sports hub. F To modernise Bhopal’s traffic system and improve parking facilities would.
F To provide Narmada water to every household.
