Three feared trapped as dryer collapses in Saint Hardas Rice Mill

In a ghastly incident that occurred on Sunday morning, a structure of Saint Hardas Rice Mill, situated at village Samoda on Jevra-Dhamda Road under Jevra-Sirsa Police station in Durg district collapsed and three persons are feared to be trapped in the debris. Rescue operations are in progress till the filing of the report. The District Administration, Police and SDRF team are engaged in rescue operation on war footing. Those trapped in the debris include Ravi Keswani, son of one of the directors of the mill, Chetan Das Keswani along with a mechanic and helper.
 
According to information, the Dryer along with the shed of the Mill collapsed on Sunday morning at around 11.00 am. Jevra Chowki Police informed that the wall of the house built for labourers working in the Rice Mill collapsed due to the storm on Saturday evening. Besides the wall, the lancer and the shed also fell. The accident occurred when the repair work was in progress on Sunday morning. Presently, Police force and SDRF is jointly working for the rescue of those trapped. JCB and cranes have been deployed at the site of the incident to remove the debris. To avoid any untoward situation, police force has been deployed in large number at the site of the incident. Residents informed that the Rice Mill belongs to Mukesh Das and Chetan Das Keswani who are around 20 to 25 years old.
 
The dryer and shed had become dilapidated and this might be the reason behind the incident. However, Jevra-Sirsa Police has started the investigation. It has been informed that during the incident about 1,500 quintal of paddy has been stocked in the Rice Mill. On being informed Durg SDM, Thasildar, Durg CSP, Vivek Shukla, Pulgaon Police Station Incharge, Uttam Verma, Jevra Sirsa Police Post Incharge have reached the spot. Two cranes and JCB has been deployed to remove the debris of the shed and dryer under the rescue operation that is going on at war footing.
