Over 40 injured in head-on collision between bus-truck near Murtijapur

Over 40 persons were injured, some of them seriously, in a head-on collision between Shivshahi bus of MSRTC and a truck near Navsala diversion between Murtijapur and Amravati on NH-6 on Monday early morning. Injured persons were rushed to General Hospital Amravati for treatment. As per information, the Nagpur-Nashik Shivshahi bus (MH-29/BE-1511) collided with the truck (GJ-03/BW-9925) coming from opposite direction near Navsala diversion as the truck driver lost the control over steering wheel. So strong was the impact that the front portion of the bus was totally damaged. Following the impact, the truck, carrying iron girders, turned turtle.
 
The persons sitting in cabin of the truck and bus driver sustained serious injures while over 40 passengers in the bus also were hurt in the accident. All the injured persons were rushed to Amravati. Considering the serious injuries to the bus driver, he was referred to Nagpur for further treatment. Front portion of both the vehicles involved in the accident were badly damage.
 
 
A passenger, who got stuck in the cabin of the bus, was rescued by cops with the help of passengers and passersby. Some of the injured persons identified include Ankita Rishi Mishra (26), a resident of Nagpur; Prashant Ramesh Nikam (34), Dhananjay Dipak Supanekar (21), Manoj Telgote (35), Dipak Gaikwad (85), a residents of Nashik; Vikrant Ashok (24) from Teosa, Devidas Jagan Devkar (34) from Malegaon in Washim district, Akash Gajanan Deshmukh (28) from Khamgaon, Pratibha Chandrakant Patil (40), Chandrakant Dinanath Patil (56), both resident of Dhule; Sandesh Chavan (35) from Sarvadi, Teosa and drivers Santosh Chavan and Vicky Samarit from Nashik bus depot of MSRTC. On getting information, Bhaugrao Ghuge, PI of Mana police station and other cops reached the spot and rushed the injured persons to Amravati for treatment. The traffic on the busy NH-6 was paralysed for some time due to the accident. On the complaint of bus driver Samrit, Mana Police registered offence against the truck driver. PI Ghuge is conducting investigation.
