Wanted Naxal gunned down near Fulgatta

A desperately wanted outlaw was gunned down during a fierce encounter between the security personnel and Naxals in restive Dantewada district on Tuesday. While the slain Naxal was carrying a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh on his head, his main task with the banned outfit was to develop intelligence on the movement of security forces accordingly which they used to plan coordinated attacks on them.
 
“The slain outlaw aging around 35-years has been identified as Shankar alias Kamlu, who had been active with the banned outfit as Bhairamgarh Area Committee member,” confirmed Deputy Inspector General of Police (Anti Naxal Ops) Sundarraj P. As per the DIG, a squad of the small action team of District Reserve Guard (DRG) numbering some 15 odd personnel, was out to carry out search operation in areas under Mirtur police station limits.
 
While the personnel were cordoning off a forested patch near Fulgatta, which shares border with restive Bijapur district a group of Naxals indiscriminately opened fire upon them. Following this, the brave-hearts launched retaliatory attack, leading to fierce gun-battle. Soon, the outlaws were forced to escape into dense forest. During the post-encounter search, body of slain outlaw along with a 9 mm pistol was recovered from the spot. The slain outlaw has been identified as Bhairamgarh Area Committee member Shankar alias Kamlu, added the DIG.
 
 
Naxals trigger IED blast, no casualties

BALRAMPUR/RAIPUR:
IN their desperate attempt to discourage voting, the outlaws triggered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast on the day of the third phase of Lok Sabha polls in district Balrampur on Tuesday. However, no harm was reported to anyone. Confirming the incident, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Anti-Naxal Ops) Sundarraj P informed that the explosion took place at around 8 am between Sitajhari nullah and Pachpedi nullah, some six-kilometre south-west of Bandarchuva camp under Samari police station limits of the district. “It is just desperate attempt by naxals to discourage the voting. But, in spite of that people enthusiastically exercised their franchise”, said the DIG.
