NMC removes encroachments in Hasanbagh amid tension

Enforcement Squad of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), on Wednesday, removed encroachments in Hasanbagh area. There was tension for a while as the shop-owners resisted the drive initially. But, Enforcement Squad squad went ahead with the drive amid police bandobast. NMC’s Enforcement Squad squad went to Hasanbagh area to remove encroachments, unauthorised shops, extensions, and tin-sheds. The squad started removing encroachments of shops on the stretch from Hasanbagh police post to Rajendra High School Square to Ishwar Nagar Square to K D K College to Hasanbagh Square. Initially, the shop-owners resisted the attempt and there was an altercation between the squad members and shop-owners. With the help of policemen on bandobast duty, NMC squad carried out the encroachment removal drive. It removed 75 tin-sheds and extensions.
 
The action was carried out under the guidance of Ashok Patil, Assistant Commissioner; Harish Raut, Assistant Commissioner of Nehru Nagar Zone; Sanjay Kamble, Enforcement Inspector; by the squad comprising Malwe, Shingne, Vijay Irkhede, and Sharad Irpate. In another drive, Enforcement Squad and Market Department jointly razed 18 shops that were affected due to Metro Railway along Santra Market Railway Feeder Road.
 
These shops were owned by Ram Aarse, Radhabai Dharmecha, Kawadu Gondane, Sheikh Shamsuddin Ishaq, Devidas Gulhane, Wasid Ahmed Khan, Sheikh Nazir Sheikh Hussain, Sayyad Qamar Ali, Sheikh Umardaraz Abdul Sattar, Watsalabai Meshram, Jagannath Satyanarayan Yadav, Bhaiyyalal Patel, Kantabai Somkunwar, Rampyari Gaur, Kamlabai Parde, Laxman Mate, Sheikh Sattar Sheikh Miyan, and Ayub Khan Yakub Khan, stated a press release. Shrikant Vaidya, Market Superintendent; Rajiv Pawankar, Market Inspector, and other staffers of Market Department carried out the action.
