Kidnapped Virat Saraf rescued after 6 days

After about six-days of prolonged investigations, Bilaspur Police rescued the six-year-old child Virat Saraf who was abducted while he was playing along with his friends near his house in Karbala area here in the evening on April 20, this year. He was recovered from a house in Jarhabhata area where he was kept for six-days and survived only on biscuits. Police have also arrested three accused including the kingpin involved in the crime.
 
The incident took place in the evening on April 20, when the victim Virat Saraf (6) son of eminent businessman Vivek Saraf while playing along with his friends near his house in Karbala area was abducted by four people.
 
The kidnappers came in an un-numbered white car and asking some address to the other children kidnapped the child. After the incident Bilaspur Police sealed all the outlets and started random checking of the vehicles.
 
Police also detained about 400 suspects and examined them, but all their efforts failed. Police also suspected involvement of some professional inter-state gang particularly from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh in the kidnapping case.
Taking the matter seriously Director General of Police (DGP) D M Awasthi formed a special team comprising about 100 most efficient policemen from Bilaspur, Kondagaon, Balod, Raigarh, Mahasamund and Dhamtari districts to crack the kidnapping case. The team worked under the aegis of Bilaspur Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhishek Meena, SP Balod M L Kotwani and SP Kondagaon Sujit Kumar and reported to Inspector General of Police (IG) Pradeep Gupta. Police also intensified all its networks and alerted the pointers besides taking up the matter with their counterparts in other states. The first priority of Police was safe release of the child whose life was in serious threat.
 
On Thursday Police launched an intense search operation in city and outskirts which continued throughout the day and night.The efforts of Police yielded results on early Friday morning when a team of Police over a specific input, raided a house at Mini Basti in Jarhabhata area.
 
When Police reached the house the kingpin and notorious criminal of Bihar, Rajkishore Singh tried to give a slip but failed in his efforts and was overpowered by the cops.
Police then stormed into the house and recovered the child. Police also arrested his two other accomplices Anil Singh and Satish Sharma from the house.
 
Bilaspur SP Abhishek Meena who led the team first spotted the child and took him in his custody. After his rescue the child was first handed over to IG Pradeep Gupta and subsequently to the family.Elaborating about the incident in details, Pradeep Gupta said that the child after being abducted was first taken to Railway station from where the kidnappers turned the car towards Railway Colony. After passing through Railway settlement they took the Vyapar Vihar Road to Mini Basti in Jarhabhata where the child was kept on the first floor in a house.
 
In the last six days the child was given only biscuits as food. He was also beaten up by the kidnappers and threatened not to cry or make any noise.The child’s rescue also brought big relief among the people in city who were praying since long for safety of the child. Parents of the child Vivek Saraf and Vibha Saraf gave all credits to the Police for their efficiency and also to the people in city for their support.
 
The matter was also viewed very seriously by State Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel who is currently camping in Delhi. He was taking minute-to-minute reports from the DGP obn every development in the case.After the child’s rescue, Baghel called up the family and congratulated them. He also praised the efficiency of Bilaspur Police. Meanwhile as soon as the news of Virat’s rescue spread in city, large number of his relatives, neighbours and people from all walks of life reached his house and celebrated the occasion with colours and fire crackers. People also wished the family and appreciated Police for their efficiency.
