“ALL India Congress Committee (AICC) President Rahul Gandhi and every member of Congress party right from initial committees of district to national screening committee for candidate selections have an unanimous opinion that from Jabalpur Lok Sabha seat Vivek Krishn Tankha is the right choice. Being a non-elected Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) on his initiative remarkable development works have been initiated in Jabalpur,” said Sachin Pilot, Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan, while addressing a press conference on Friday. He was campaigning for Vivek Krishn Tankha in the city on Friday.

Appreciating active participation of Vivek Krishn Tankha in State Government of Congress formed in Madhya Pradesh, Sachin Pilot said that on his appeal Chief Minister Kamal Nath held the first Cabinet meeting of Madhya Pradesh Government in Jabalpur. Development works worth Rs 2800 crore were approved for Jabalpur. He further said that upcoming Lok Sabha elections is to protect fundamentals of democracy, its values from the forces that are trying to demolish it, that have been maintained by Congress and its alliances in the country since independence.

The election is for the future of the country. He alleged that the BJP Government in the Centre in the last five years has misused powers by attacking different institutions like Reserve Bank of India, CBI, Income Tax and ED etc. Replying to a query on EVM and VVPAT issues, Sachin Pilot said Election Commission has constitutional and moral responsibility to clear every doubt related to EVM and if raised by six Chief Ministers of different states and many candidates then the issue should be taken up by EC with due seriousness.
