Ahead of polls, cops bust gang involved in printing fake currency

In a major operation against fake currency ahead of Lok Sabha polls, Ratibad Police along with Bhopal STF have busted a three-member gang engaged in printing counterfeit notes with the help of advance printer and circulating them and recovered fake currency notes amounting to Rs 5,51,670. Two gang members are residents of Jalgaon in Maharashtra, said DIG Irshad Wali addressing mediapersons on Saturday.
 
Fake currency worth Rs 5.50 lakh was recovered by Ratibad police after monitoring accused movements for ten days. A coloured printer, cartridge ink and papers used for printing notes. DIG Irshad Wali further said that the nabbed accused was identified as Waseem Khan (30) of Barkhedi Khurd and recovered an envelope carrying fake currency notes of Rs 45,570 and an Apple iphone from his possession. It was found that the accused was on his way to Ratibad to deliver the fake currency notes in an envelope and was nabbed before he could deliver the consignment.
 
During further investigation, Waseem revealed that fake currency notes are provided by his maternal uncle Saddam and based on the information police team was dispatched which nabbed Saddam and recovered fake currency notes of Rs 1.4 lakh. Police quizzed Saddam after which he revealed that Bhupendra Patil alias Bhau (31) has facilitated fake currency notes.
 
Acting swiftly, Bhau was nabbed and from his possession Rs 900 were recovered and he his office JK Finance was searched where police team found fake currency notes of Rs 3,65,200 and printer used to produce fake currency notes. Police registered a case under Section 489-A, B, C and D and 34 of the IPC and started search for other members of the nexus. The regions where the gang members used to circulate fake currency notes would be investigated. The period for which the gang members were active is yet to be found.
