Senior Cong leader Choubey hospitalised

Senior Congress leader and Minister for Agriculture, Water Resources Department, Parliamentary Affairs, Law and Legislative Affairs Ravindra Choubey is undergoing treatment at Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh after he suffered heart attack earlier on the day. Speaking to The Hitavada, Minister for Urban Administration and Development Dr Shiv Kumar Dahariya confirmed that Ravindra Choubey has been shifted to Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences from Sahara Hospital, where he was admitted first. Ventilator has been removed as his condition improved by Saturday evening. As per information received from sources Ravindra Choubey was on election campaign at Raebareli and Amethi.
 
He was reportedly not feeling well since Friday night, therefore he skipped dinner and later started vomiting. Seeing his condition worsening Ravindra Choubey was rushed to the Sahara hospital in Lucknow. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has rushed his Principal Secretary Gaurav Dwivedi to Lucknow, to monitor the treatment of Choubey. Chief Minister Baghel is expected to reach Lucknow from Jharkhand by Saturday evening. Ravindra Choubey was among the first picks in Bhupesh Baghel’s cabinet after the Congress returned to power in December, 2018. He had served as Minister in the erstwhile united Madhya Pradesh under Digvijay Singh and under Chief Minister Ajit Jogi. 62-year-old Minister Choubey currently represents Saja assembly constituency. His journey in politics dates back to 1978, when he joined the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI).It may be noted that that Ravindra Choubey was the Leader of Opposition in Chhattisgarh legislative assembly between January, 2009 and December 11, 2013.
 
Cabinet Minister Ravindra Choubey’s wife Geeta Choubey, son Avinash Choubey, brother Pradeep Choubey and daughter-in-law Akshita Choubey reached Lucknow by a special chartered plane on Saturday. All India Congress Committee (AICC) sent a special chartered plane to Raipur for carrying the family members of Choubey. Choubey’s son Avinash Choubey said that his father talked with the family members and his health condition was reportedly stable. As per latest report his condition improved and ventilator was removed by the doctors at the hospital.
