Police to soon conduct series of raids in search of Dr Puneet Gupta

Raipur Police will soon be conducting series of raids in search of son-in-law of former Chief Minister Raman Singh and former Medical Superintendent of DKS Post Graduate Institute & Research Center Raipur Dr Puneet Gupta and arrest him, said police. “Based on inputs about possible whereabouts of Dr Gupta, teams have been dispatched. Police investigators have seized large number of documents in raids recently conducts at the hospital and residence of Dr Gupta. Substantial evidences in the case have been gathered,” said Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shaikh Arif Husen on Tuesday.
 
The officer further informed that documents received from banks have been sent for ‘question document examination’ and expecting to get report in the regard soon. Notably, following the complaint of Medical Superintendent & Academic Incharge of DKS Post Graduate Institute & Research Center Raipur Dr Kamal Kishore Sahare, Gole Bazaar police has booked Dr Puneet Gupta in connection with financial irregularities worth Rs 50 crore causing massive loss to the state government. In his complaint to police, Dr Sahare alleged that during his tenure, Dr Puneet Gupta has recruited ineligible candidates in DKS Post Graduate Institute & Research Center Raipur by taking bribe. Following the complaint of Dr Sahare, police have registered an offence against Dr Puneet Gupta under Sections 420, 467, 468 and 120 B of Indian Penal Code (IPC), which amounting to cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property, forgery of valuable security, will, forgery for purpose of cheating and punishment of criminal conspiracy.
 
Meanwhile, the ongoing probe in infamous Antagarh tape scandal may take new turn as alleged mastermind-turned-key witness of the case Firoz Siddiqui has submitted a video clipping, involving him and Dr Puneet Gupta, to Special Investigation Team (SIT). After handing over the 17-minute long video clipping to SIT, Firoz Siddiqui made it public. It may be recalled that recently, while appearing before the SIT, Siddiqui has claimed in media that he will produce video clips pertaining to Antagarh tape scandal to the investigating team. On being asked by media about the clips, Siddiqui stated that the clips are going to give new dimension to the ongoing investigation and emerged as crucial evidence against people indulged in the scandal. SIT is investigating the case registered with Pandri police station under Sections 406, 420, 171E, 171F and 120B of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and under relevant Sections of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988.
