BSP employees escape unhurt as ceiling plaster collapses

The BSP employee couple and family members were fortunate enough as no one was injured when all of a sudden ceiling plaster of large area collapsed at their residential quarter in BSP Township on Sunday evening. During allotment of residential quarter, the BSP employee couple was not extended benefits under the Welcome Scheme and their complaint regarding complaint of necessary civil work was pending for over six months. According to information, the incident of ceiling plaster collapse occurred at the house of Suman and Sudip, the BSP employees couple, the resident of resident of 271 (E) of Risali Sector Bhilai, leaving the occupants shocked.
 
At about 6 pm on Sunday, the ceiling plaster of kitchen and of overhanging roof at the house all of a sudden collapsed but fortunately none of the family member was injured in the incident. The OCT (Operative cum Technicians at SMS-III, BSP) couple Suman and Sudip (OCT at URM of BSP), hailed from Haryana, joined BSP services about 2 years ago, had lodged the complaint at Town Services Department of BSP about 6 months ago but their complaint is still laying pending and in the meantime the mishap occurred. However, their daughter was fortunate enough as a little while ago she was standing below the roof overhanging eaves where the plaster of about eight feet area collapsed.
 
During allotment the victims were not extended benefits under Welcome Scheme as they were told that the department is lacking funds. While confirming details, DVS Reddy, General Secretary, Hindustan Steel Employees Union (CITU) informed that over 600 complaints were laying pending since the year 2017 owing to apathy on part of the officials from the department concerned. The most of residential quarter in Risali Sector are in dilapidated state and the BSP employee residents are running pillar to post for ensuring allotment in other sectors of the township. The walls of the residential quarter also developed cracks.
