A painting competition was organised at the Boat Club the other day by the district administration in association with Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) as a part of voting awareness programme titled ‘lets paint for democracy’ to spread awareness among people for maximum voters turnout in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polling scheduled on May 12. People from all age groups, including school and college students, have designed some beautiful posters.

They were really excited about the campaign. Renowned painter Venu Garg and Everest mountaineer Rajesh Rathore were also present in the event. Under the Let’s Paint for Democracy, the canvas paper was placed by putting 600 feet-long and three feet wide tables on which 150 painters, including prominent painters made paintings and many types of messages were displayed through painting, to inspire citizens to make maximum voting in the Lok Sabha elections. Several participants portrayed the issues through their paintings.

“Young voters are an important part of the city. If they will come out and vote, the voters’ turnout will surely increase. We are now planning to take our campaign to the next level. We will ask the university students to participate in our campaign and cast their vote this year,” said District Collector Dr Sudam Khade.
