The cyclone ‘Fani’ that is moving towards Tamil Nadu from Bay of Bengal will not affect the weather over Central India and Vidarbha because possible cyclones in summer mainly move forward towards Bangladesh and Myanmar, stated a senior meteorologist to The Hitavada on Monday. “Heatwave condition, continuing in Vidarbha and Madhya Pradesh for many days, will likely to cross 46 degree Celsius mark in the first week of May. If the temperature crosses the 47 degree Celsius mark in the next month then we can normal monsoon this year,” said the weatherman who did not wish to be named. Many experts were expecting that cyclone Fani will give a relief from the scorching heat in Vidarbha and Central India when it hit the coastal India.

The meteorologist also said that increasing temperature in Vidarbha is good and the maximum temperature in the month  of May will settle on normal. However, Vidarbha again experienced a hot day as Akola recorded the highest maximum temperature with 46.9 degree Celsius while Amravati was 46.8 degree Celsius. The long spell of scorching hit continues over Nagpur also and the city recorded 44.8 degree Celsius on the first day of the week. Chandrapur (46.60 C), Buldhana (43.50 C), Gadchiroli (43.00 C), Gondia (43.00 C), Wardha (45.80 C), Washim (45.00 C) and Yavatmal (45.50 C) also crossed the 43 degree mark. Khadgaon in Madhya Pradesh was the hottest city in the country with 47.4 degree Celsius and Akola and Amravati were on second and third spots respectively. Since, no significant weather formations are approaching or passing close to Vidarbha, dry northwesterly winds will continue to prevail over Central India and Vidarbha for the next 48 hours. Since these winds are dry and warm in nature, the temperatures are bound to rise further.

Moreover, the blowing hot winds fit for ‘Loo’. Due to the rising temperature, the pollution levels will worsen in most of the places. According to weather department, the skies will be clear and temperatures will be on the rise in entire Vidarbha and the maximum will touch 46 degree Celsius in many parts. Weather department extends caution to the people of the city as exposure to high temperatures for a long period of time could lead to heat stroke. It is thus advised to remain indoors during peak heat hours.
