Sex racket busted, white collar names under scanner

Raipur police on Monday came under scanner for allegedly trying to cover-up names of high-profile persons in connection with sex racket busted in the state capital late on Sunday night. However, senior police officials denied any such involvement, and said that people involved in the crime have been arrested and investigators are likely to rescue more victims in days to come. Following a tip-off about sex racket operating at RDA Colony in Hirapur, a team-led by probationer Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Kalpana Verma and Kabir Nagar Station House Officer (SHO) Shivanand Tiwari swung into action and arrested the duo of mother-son and rescued two girls including a minor, said Azad Chowk City Superintendent of Police (CSP) Nasar Siddiqui.
 
The mother-son duo has been identified as Asha Verma (40) and Mukesh Verma (20), both residents of RDA Colony under Kabir Nagar police limits, added the CSP. “Preliminary police investigation revealed that after befriending girls belonging from deprived background and making hollow promises of love, Mukesh with the help of his mother forcefully pushed girls into the illegal business of flesh trade. Mukesh search probable customers through social media platform Facebook, online messaging application Whatsapp and other medium.
 
Police investigators have contacted Woman and Child Development Department to ensure proper rehabilitation of the rescued victim,” said the CSP. In days to come, police may likely to rescue around 20 more victims pushed in the flesh trade, claimed CSP Siddiqui. CSP Siddiqui further informed that based on information collected from the accused duo, police have arrested Payal Sahu (20) from Rajnandgaon, while Gauri Yadav (42) and Amarjeet Kaur (60) held from Durg district. The mother-son duo, with the help of Payal, Gauri and Amarjeet, send victims to other districts. Following the complaint rescue victims, police have registered an offence under Section 366A and 370A of Indian Penal Code (IPC), which amounting to procuration of minor girl and trafficking of persons, and under relevant Section of Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.
