3 miscreants involved in Kotwali firing incident arrested, 2 still at large

Finally, police busted the gang involved in Kotwali firing incident and arrested 3 miscreants while two are still at large. After almost 4 days, 20 separate police teams led by DIG Irshad Wali, SP (north) Hemant Chouhan, ASP Manu Vyas and ASP (crime) Nischal Jharia busted the gang involved in shooting 3 rounds of fire on driver of a jewellery shop owner on March 30. IG Bhopal Jaideep Prasad while interacting with the mediapersons said, “The miscreants took shelter in Ujjain in a dharamshala while two others are on the run.
 
The arrested accused have been identified as Krityanand Tiwari (24), Manish Tiwari (22) and Abhay Tiwari (18). Prime accused in the case are B Pharma graduate and engineering student. Two others Dhirendra aka Tan Tan Choubey (24) and Maniranjan Choubey (23) are on the run and a police team has been sent to Bihar to arrest them.” “All of them are natives of Bihar and lived in Aishbagh area and police will also question their landlord Abdul Aleem who failed to inform police before keeping them as tenants. The bike used in the incident was purchased from OLX for Rs 30,000 was also seized by police along with the tiffin boxes that were looted by them on the day of incident,” added IG Prasad. The incident took place at around 9 pm on March 30 when Abdul Rehman was shot at three times.
 
After closing the shop, Rehman was coming with the owner of Agrawal Jewellers and the duo were heading towards the car when the accused tried to snatch away his bag and when he resisted, they opened fire. He sustained bullet injury in his shoulder, waist, stomach and hand and was rushed to Chirayu Hospital. One of them had gone to the shop of Agrawal Jewellers in January this year where he saw the employee putting some ornaments in a tiffin box. Then he thought to rob the owner and for next two months they carried out recce of the area, and on Saturday night they not only robbed the tiffin box but also opened fire at the employee in their attempt of loot.
 
The incident triggered panic in the city and 20 separate teams comprising officials of police and Crime Branch were sent to various parts of the State. Besides, a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh including Rs 20,000 on each accused was declared apart from cash reward of Rs 1 lakh by Sarafa Association. IG Prasad said that police teams traced the accused to Ujjain and after they were held on Wednesday night, they confessed to the crime. After scanning 100 CCTV cameras, police succeeded in getting good quality CCTV grabs from only 4 of them using which as many as 100 identified goons were taken in custody and were questioned by the teams.
