GRP arrests man with Rs 11L cash

BHOPAL Government Railway Police (GRP) nabbed a 32-year-old man from Bhopal Railway Station during a special drive conducted in wake of upcoming Lok Sabha elections and recovered Rs 11 lakh cash from his possession. The man was scheduled to board in a Delhi bound train when he was nabbed by GRP Bhopal on Thursday.
 
When he was checked, Rs 11,08,800 cash was recovered from his possession. The flying squad headed by Magistrate Suresh Singh conducted the special drive along with the team in which the man was arrested. The accused has been identified as Mohan Rai, son of Bhanjan Prasad Rai, who hails from Katni district and lived near Hamidia School at Campus 80 ft road in Station Bazaria. During investigation, when the accused was interrogated he told police that he used to collect money from shopkeepers and traders for supplying electrical goods which he brings from Delhi and was scheduled to pay the money to traders in Delhi. After the accused was nabbed Income Tax officials were informed for further investigation. The man has provided names of four Bhopal-based traders to whom he used to supply goods. SHO GRP Bhopal Hemant Shrivastava said that a person was detained who was moving suspiciously after which while checking cash which he claims to be collected from traders for supplying goods is under investigation.
 
The money was seized and action is being taken under the directions of the Election Commission of India. Details of unaccounted money are yet to be known. In a bid to check crime and movement of criminals using trains, SP Bhopal Railway Manish Agrawal is monitoring such incidents and he has declared cash reward for the team.
