Naxals drop pamphlets carrying message to boycott elections

As Chhattisgarh is gearing up for coming Lok Sabha elections, Naxals dropped pamphlets in one of the worst insurgency-hit districts Bijpaur have at area close to the office of District Collector and Superintendent of Police with message of boycotting the polls. According to information received, the group of Naxals late on last night reportedly entered the district headquarter and dropped large numbers of pamphlets calling for boycott of the polls. In a wake of the incident, security forces deployed in the district have intensified anti-naxal exercises.
 
To make their presence available in Naxal-hit districts, ultras in past 24-hours executed three incidents including killing of four personnel of Border Security Force (BSF) in Kanker yesterday and one trooper in Dhamtari on Friday. In a wake of these incidents, DG (naxal-ops and Special Intelligence Branch) Girdhari Nayak on Friday reached Bijapur and chaired a marathon meeting to chalk out a strategy to avert such incidents and ensure peaceful execution of general elections. In backdrop of four BSF personnel killed in a naxal attack took place in maoist-hit Kanker district, security forces on Friday carried out extensive search operation at Mahla forest under Partapur police limits and recovered explosives and weapons. During search, security forces two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) weighing around 5 kg, five pressure IEDs weighing around 3 kg, three petrol bombs and 13 wire fitted bombs. All the explosives were diffused with the help of experts from Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS).
