Power Deptt working to ease problems of people: Priyavrath Singh

Power Minister Priyavrath Singh said that his department has taken many important decisions to ease the problems of power consumers. Now before shutdown, people receive SMS in advance. Moreover, more than 20,000 transformers have been changed in State. Addressing the press conference, Priyavrath Singh told that State is having adequate availability of power and it had successfully met highest power demand of 14,000 MW.
 
Department is working on the lines to provide different kinds of facilities and in this regard. Even WhatsApp groups have been formed at some places in State to inform about shutdown activities and vice versa. Under Indira Gandhi scheme, power is being supplied at half rates to water pump upto 10 horse power. Farmers can use temporary connection for threshing works. Three-phase power supply would be ensured to farmers. On the line of Dial 100, call centre number 1912 has been formed so that people can register complaints of burn transformer, power interruption etc. Bhopal and Indore have 100 seat call centres and 200 seat call centre in Jabalpur. Round the clock power supply has been ensured for domestic, small and micro power consumers.
 
Process is underway to fill the vacant posts and help under RBC (6.4) in cases of fire incidents due to power connection and sparking. To sort out the issue of transformers, district-wise depots have been established. Answering a question, he told that department is looking into legal implications in taking action in MoUs signed in previous government regarding power purchase and taking legal aid. Notably, when Congress was in opposition, it had accused then ruling party of doing embezzlement in the name of power purchase.
