Senior leaders and workers of Bharatiya Janata Party celebrated 39th Foundation Day of the party, on Saturday. Addressing a programme organised at party office, City President, G S Thakur said, the party, which was founded 39 years ago, has become the biggest political party of the world. BJP members feel pride being a part of the party, which works on the principle of nationalism.

He said, after independence, Mahatma Gandhi had directed for dissolving Congress, but, then leaders saw political mileage in Congress hence they made it a political party, which was formed to liberate the motherland from clutches of British rule. But, seeing Congress’ wrong policies, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee founded Jansangh and positioned the party against the Congress.

Later, following some objections, first Janata Party was formed. Then late Atal Behari Vajpayee, Lal Krishna Advani, Nanaji Deshmukh and other leaders formed Bharatiya Janata Party in 1980 and shouldered the responsibility of spreading the ideology of nationalism. It is only the outcome of sacrifice of our founding leaders and hard work of party workers.
