Go Rurban camp is being organised especially for international students for the first time in State. Giving this information, Aneesh from Ekta Parishad who is organiser said that this camp is exclusively for international youth and girls even under the age of 14 years have come all the way from Germany to understand about rural culture in India.

For most of the participants, this is a life-changing experience that gave them a broader direction with information they had never received during their academic studies. Many of them want to learn more and see how they can relate to people in rural India. Main objective of the camp was to connect rural and urban youth, to incorporate rural values among youngsters and to explore shortcomings and highlights of both rural and urban lifestyles. This is a youth movement aiming to create an understanding and sensitivity about the life in rural environment.

“Basic idea is to explore shortcomings and highlight both rural and urban lifestyle. It is only through this exploration that one can build a bridge between both the ends and can actually be combination of rural and urban, RURBAN,” said one of the participant. This is the 150th year of Baa Bapu, and also the 90th year of Salt Satyagrah. Many events are also organised in a series under Baa Bapu. Discussions along with experts will also be organised as a part of the camp focusing on Gandhian principles. The whole world has learned the lesson of non-violence from Salt Satyagrah by Mahatma Gandhi. There is need of youth to understand reading Gandhi’s thoughts and gave the message of living life on the path of truth and non-violence and such platforms are necessary for connecting Gandhi’s idea with the youth. Notably, in order to reach thoughts of Mahatma Gandhi’s true non-violence and world peace in the whole world, Jai Jagat Yatra will be started from Delhi, Rajghat to Geneva. Jai Jagat dialogue series has been started in this context.

This dialogue will be continued on various topics related to Gandhian thoughts. The camp was started in Katni which witnessed a group of young people with green and white flags marching and chanting slogans for an equal world, a world where people have rights over land, water and forest. The current educational system is weakening the thinking capacity of young people in India. The organisers also congratulated the camp participants for being part of this initiative and opening their hearts and minds to learn some of the problems facing by a large population in country.
