TT Nagar police have registered an FIR against Law Minister P C Sharma on Monday for violating Model Code of Conduct after BJP leader Kantilal Lodha had complained against the minister. After investigation by Collector, he gave the order to lodge an FIR against the minister. The police action came after P C Sharma stirred a controversy while addressing Congress party workers in an election rally in State capital Bhopal on April 3. The minister told Congress workers that jobs will be provided to all those who work at polling booths. Congress veteran Digvijaya Singh is contesting from Bhopal Parliamentary constituency.

Returning Officer (District Collector) Dr Sudam Khade had issued a notice to the minister on Sunday for violation of model code of conduct. While campaigning for former Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh at Narmada Bhavan in the city, Sharma said, “We have 284 booths and those who man the booths will get jobs in the Government or private sector.” Digvijaya Singh and former union minister Suresh Pachouri were present at the meeting.

The state BJP claimed that Sharma’s statement is a “clear violation of model code of conduct”. SHO of TT Nagar Virendra Chouhan said, “we have filed an FIR against Law Minister P C Sharma under Section 188 of the IPC for violation of Model Code Conduct as he had commented that jobs will be provided to all those who work at polling booths. BJP had complained and Collector Dr Sudam Khade investigated the matter and ordered to lodge FIR.”
