Husband behind acid attack on woman

The investigations revealed that the husband of the victim, suspecting infidelity, threw acid on her 
 
Thanks to professional investigation carried out by Railway police that the mystery behind acid attack on a woman and her daughter reported on 6.5.2019 has been resolved. The women and her daughter were travelling in train number 11260 Ambikapur-Jabalpur Express were subjected to acid attack at Katni South station when one masked man in possession with bottle of acid threw the chemical on the woman and her daughter in coach number D-1 of the express train. In the incident, both sustained serious burn injuries due to acid. The investigations revealed that the husband of the victim, suspecting infidelity, threw acid on her. The accused allegedly procured acid from Mumbai.
 
The success for Railway police was told to media by Sunil Kumar Jain, Superintendent, Railway Police on Thursday. Giving details about the incident, SRP Jain, soon after the incident came to light at Katni South, the two victims of acid attack were taken to Government hospital and were subjected to treatment for their burn injuries.
 
Accordingly, a case was registered and cash reward of Rs 10,000 was announced as bounty. SRP Sunil Kumar Jain along with Additional SP (Railway) Pratibha Patel visited the place of incident at Katni South station. The suspect was rounded up by GRP Shahdol at Ambikapur. Carrying out investigations, footage of CCTV installed at Katni South station were examined. In course of examination of the CCTV footage, cops came to learn that a man without shirts was moving across the platform. The CCTV footage also showed that the man also had sustained burn injuries.
 
It was established that man was behind the acid attack. Later on, the man resembled the husband of the victim. Also that CCTV footage at Dumna airport were also examined, it was held that the man seen at Katni South station boarded a flight for Hyderabad. The CCTV footage at the airport confirmed the man as husband of the victim. Accordingly, the man identified as Shyam Bihari Gupta, resident of Mayapur of Ambikapur district, was rounded up and was brought for interrogation. In course of interrogation, he confessed to having made acid attack on his wife and his mother-in-law. The accused said, having evidence of his wife being disloyal he eventually decided to teach her lesson against her infidelity and accordingly made his plan and succeeded in throwing acid on her.
 
The accused told police that he visited Mumbai to procure acid to be thrown at his wife who travelled in Ambikapur Express. The investigation team included ASI Rajesh Raj, Sushil Singh, R Sagar from Cyber Cell Ravi Manjhi and others. SRP Sunil Kumar Jain has announced cash award for the police team.
