Here is a good news for the passengers regularly travelling from Itarsi to Bina as Railways is likely to run engineless Mumbai-based suburban train on the route.

Bhopal Railway has drafted a proposal to start the train on the route after completing the third line construction on 250 km of section from Habibganj to Itarsi. If all goes well, the train will start running on the route by January 2020. The engine-less suburban-based train will be easing the journey of over fifty thousand up-down passengers every day. Besides, several trains running on the route from Bhopal will be reducing its burden.

At present, Railways has started transportation on 140 km section of third line from Habibganj to Bina. On remaining 80 km of third line section from Habibganj to Itarsi, construction work is still on progress. Railways has claimed that construction work on this route will be completed by the end of year 2019.

“Proposal has been drafted to start Mumbai-based suburban train on Itarsi-Bina-Itarsi route through the third line. This proposal has been made to reduce the burden of superfast trains and provide better journey to the local passengers,” said I A Siddique, Public Relation Officer (PRO), Bhopal.

According to railway officials, the suburban train will be engineless being run under the push and pull methodology. The train will have driving cabin at the both ends and traction motor on every alternate coach. With the help of traction motor, each coach will be pulling its wheel along with one other coach. Through this method, train will take lesser time to catch the speed. As per proposal, train will catch the speed from 0 to 50 within ten second. The train will be completing journey of 210 km in three and half hours.

Railways officials said that there are about 50,000 passengers travel from Itarsi to Bina everyday for several reasons like business, employment and personal visits. At present, all these passengers travel in superfast trains starting from Bhopal which increases the burden of long distance trains too. Railway has also proposed to schedule halt of the suburban train at all the small stations with aim to cover maximum local traffic and reducing the rush of long distance superfast trains. After this arrangement, railway will also be reducing the stoppage of long distance trains on small stations.
