3 arrested with Pangolin skins

Acting on a precise tip-off, Moudhapara police on late Friday evening arrested three persons along with skins of Pangolin from city-based hotel.
 
“Taking swift action on an input, police arrested three persons including manager of Hotel Vinar from the hotel’s room and seized two skins of Pangolins from their possession. The estimated market value of seized skins according to experts would be around Rs 2.60 lakh,” said Moudhapara Station House Officer (SHO) Rahul Tiwari.
 
SHO Tiwari further informed that the arrested were identified as manager of hotel Vinar Amar Sahu, Subhash Tiwari of Ambikapur and Babi Bhattacharya, Raipur. Subhash and Babi came here at the hotel to purchase Pangolin skins from Amar Sahu.
 
Police investigators have started efforts to ascertain the sources from where Amar Sahu has procured the skins of Pangolin, said SHO Tiwari, adding that more information in the case will soon likely to surface as the trio will be subjected to interrogation.
 
An offence against the accused trio was registered with Moudhapara police station under relevant sections of Wildlife Protection Act, said SHO Tiwari, adding that further investigation in the case is under way.
