Shocking revelation comes post arrest of drug supplier by her from Mumbai

Being a woman police officer is quite a tough job but a braveheart lady cop of Special Task Force (STF) posted in Bhopal broke all the stereotypes by showing immense courage by not only tracking down a drug supplier single-handedly from Kalina Dongra area of Mumbai who had supplied mephedrone or ‘meow-meow’ party drug to drug peddlers in Bhopal, but she also unearthed suspected financial scandal involving payments allegedly sent illegally to drug suppliers by an agent through money transfer facility. Sub-Inspector of STF (Bhopal), Archana Nagar while talking to ‘The Hitavada’ said, “Most of the ‘meow-meow’ party drug transported to Bhopal comes from suppliers of Mumbai. On November 11, 2018, STF held two peddlers, Rizwan Ali and Shoaib Ahmed, with 64 gm party drug in Bhopal. While looking into the case recently, SI Archana Nagar got fresh leads when both the arrested drug peddlers claimed to purchase the drug from a Mumbai based man Ismail Khan and paid him Rs 90,000 for it. A local money transfer agency ‘Pay Nearby’ was used to send the money but as per the RBI guidelines only Rs 5,000 could be sent in a day by using wallet system and the maximum limit is Rs 25,000 in a month but Rs 90,000 has been sent in a single day by the agent in account of accused Ismail. This revelation came when a drug peddler Riwan was quizzed by Nagar in jail.

The agency worker Zubair Khan refused to co-operate and give details but Nagar recovered peddler Rizwan’s WhatsApp conversation and got hold of Khan’s bank account number. “We got an unclear address in Kalina Dongra area of Mumbai and he had switched off his mobile phone,” said Nagar. On April 25, a team of 4 cops led by SI Nagar reach there.

To arrest this drug supplier named Mohammad Ismail Khan, she took out his phone number from social media and went to Mumbai with her sub-ordinates and unaware of the Mumbai’s topography she spent five days in the slum area and wore burqa to avoid arousing suspicion in the Muslim populated area while hunting for him and after getting specific inputs of whereabouts of accused, she finally took help of local police and laid a trap and she hits the bull’s eye when drug supplier landed up at a polling booth to cast his vote for Lok Sabha polls on April 29. “We went to locations where there was a chance of Khan landing up: a masjid, a restaurant, Kalina Dongar area, Kalina church area, and chawls in Shastri Nagar.

But we could not find him,” said Nagar. When the team approached Deputy Commissioner of Police Anil Kumbhare, he assigned a team from Vakola police led by inspector Amar Patil. At 3 pm on April 29, the teams were tipped off that Khan would step out to vote. There were booths near Kalina church and at a BMC school. The teams had 2 hours to go through voters’ lists before hitting bull’s eye at the school. Khan was taken into custody as soon as he reaches outside the polling booth at BMC school to cast his vote. “The accused was then brought to Bhopal and was produced in court from where he was taken on police remand that ended on May 10.

The accused Ismail was quizzed at length and in the interrogation, he revealed names of clubs in Bhopal apart from local drug peddlers whom he had supplied drugs in the past. The accused has also provide details of those persons in Mumbai involved with him in the nexus and we are working now to connect the links and reach the persons involved from top to root level of this chain”, added SI Nagar. A notice u/s 160 has been also served to Subhash Kumar, director of Pay Nearby company in Mumbai by SI Nagar and he has been called to Bhopal for quizzing and more shocking revelations are expected to come out in the interrogation from him.
