Eight LS seats in State go to polls today

Bhopal, Morena, Bhind (ST), Gwalior, Guna, Sagar, Vidisha and Rajgarh to go to polls n Polling to start under tight security from 7 am
 
 
Under the third phase of Lok Sabha elections in Madhya Pradesh, polling will be held for eight Lok Sabha constituencies vis Bhopal, Morena, Bhind (ST), Gwalior, Guna, Sagar, Vidisha and Rajgarh on Sunday. Tight security arrangements have been made for free and fair election. Voting will start from 7 am and will continue till 6 pm. Before 60 minutes of voting, mock poll would be conducted to check the EVMs. Interacting with mediapersons, Chief Electoral Officer V L Kanta Rao told that eight Lok Sabha constituencies going for polling are spread in 64 Assembly seats in sixteen districts. The number of voters is 1.44 crore.
 
As many as 18,141 polling centres have been made where voters will cast their votes. He added that basic facilities like ramp arrangement, drinking water, medical kit, proper shadow arrangement, volunteers, vehicle arrangement for Divyang, Queue management etc have been ensured at every polling center. As many as 85 companies of central armed police force, 30 companies of state armed police force etc have been deployed for security on voting day.
 
Total 45,053 security personnel will handle security related arrangements. To deal with any kind of emergency, 450 Quick Response Teams have been formed. At least 101 inter-state and 128 inter-district check posts have been sealed for security purpose. In the meantime, total 138 candidates, including 124 male, 14 women, are in election battle. Bhopal Lok Sabha is having highest 24 candidates, including six women candidates. Sensitive polling booths have been identified. The poll teams have left to their polling stations from their respective district headquarters. With the permission from Law Department, around 2,000 magistrates will work for the Election Commission if any law and order situation arises. At least 6,400 vehicles transporting EVMs were traced through GPS. In the first phase of Lok Sabha election, there was 10 per cent more voting than previous Lok Sabha election of 2014.
 
In second phase of Lok Sabha election, voting percentage was 11 per cent more in comparison to last Lok Sabha election and even in third phase of Lok Sabha election, voting percentage rise is expected. In all eight Lok Sabha seats vi Bhopal, Morena, Bhind (ST), Gwalior, Guna, Sagar, Vidisha and Rajgarh registered 46 per cent voting percentage in 2009 and 56 per cent in 2014. This time, over all voting percentage for all eight Lok Sabha seats is expected to be around 66 per cent. Notably, among eight Lok Sabha seats, eyes of everyone are set on Bhopal election as it is being fought between BJP candidate Sadhvi Pragya Singh and Congress candidate Digvijay Singh. In campaigning, both parties left no stone unturned to trade charges against each other.
