Series of thefts baffles Raipur Police

It seems like burglars are finding Chhattisgarh’s capital an easy prey and emerging a tough challenge for Raipur police as series of house-breakings were recently reported at separate locations in the city. According to police sources, unidentified burglars recently stormed into the office of one Konark Industry located at posh Samta Colony falling in limits of Azad Chowk police station during day hour and escaped with cash worth Rs 1.10 lakh. The burglary took place at around 4 pm when the accountant identified as Ritesh Verma was out of the office to deliver some personal work. On returning to the office, the accountant found lock of the office door and drawer broke and cash missing following which he alerted the company’s owner and police.
 
Police have collected the CCTV footage and reviewing it closely. Although, the burglary took place on May 1, an offence in this connection was registered with Azad Chowk police station under Sections 454 and 380 of Indian Penal Code (IPC), which amounting to lurking house-trespass or house-breaking in order to commit offence punishable with imprisonment and theft in dwelling house, said police, adding that investigation in the case is underway. In second case, a group of burglars broke into the locked house of one Amlesh Kumar Choudhary located at Kachna falling in limits of Vidhan Sabha police station late on last night and escaped with booty worth Rs 1.50 lakh.
 
The entire burglary was reportedly captured in a CCTV, police said, adding that based on inputs collection from footage, investigation has been started and police will soon arrest the burglars. An offence in this connection has been registered under Sections 457 and 380 of IPC, amounting to lurking house-trespass or house-breaking by night in order to commit offence punishable with imprisonment and theft in dwelling house. In another incident, burglars recently stormed into a locked house located at Chandi Nagar under Telibandha police limits and take away valuables and cash totaling around Rs 20,000. Police have registered an offence under Sections 457 and 380 of IPC.
