Barring sporadic incidents, voting for 8 seats was held peacefully
Barring sporadic incidents, voting for eight Lok Sabha seats vis Bhopal, Morena, Bhind, Gwalior, Guna, Sagar, Vidisha, Rajgarh was held peacefully on Sunday.

The Voter Turn Out App of the Election Commission at 9.30 pm showed the voting percentage at 64.55 per cent. Earlier, voting started with lukewarm response but picked up pace later. By 6.30 pm total voting percentage stood at 59. 96 percent. Morena Lok Sabha seat recorded 60.67 per cent, Bhind 53.09 per cent, Gwalior 59.60 per cent, Guna 68.65 per cent, Sagar 65.69 per cent, Vidisha 70.80 per cent, Bhopal 65.28 per cent, Rajgarh 73.93 per cent. The final voting percentage is likely to become clear on Monday.
 
 
Earlier, huge enthusiasm was seen among voters. They braved blazing sun and heat to go to polling centres to cast their votes. Youths were ecstatic to cast their votes and turned out at polling stations in large numbers. Even women and old people also thronged the polling booths to cast their vote. There were also reports of election boycott at some places as voters were angry over non-development in their areas. For instance, three villages namely Nadodi, Datapani and Sureshpur of Ater in Bhind boycotted the election. Likewise, Rajgarh district’s Semri Kakad village also boycotted the election. At all these places, the Election Commission officials tried to assuage the anger and urged voters to cast their votes. After advice, voting commenced in these villages.
 
 
Chief Electoral Officer V L Kanta Rao told that total 18,141 polling stations were made for voting and number of voters was 1.44 crore. During mock poll, some EVMs developed snag in 312 polling stations and they were immediately changed. In total, 49 Ballot Units, 34 Control Units and 295 VVPATs were changed. During polling, EVM snag report came from 102 polling stations. Following this, 49 ballot units, 34 control units and 102 VVPATs were replaced. By 9 am, polling percentage in all eight Lok Sabha seats was 12.60 per cent. By 4 pm, this polling percentage increased to 52.62 per cent.
 
 
There is also report of booth capturing effort from a few pockets. For instance, Congress leader’s son tried to capture booth in Khurai. He and his accomplices reportedly attacked BJP workers and it is being said that one of the victims is in serious condition.
