A devastating fire that broke out at furniture shop-cum-workshop situated at Kohinoor Tower near Omti Chowk gutted colossal stock of wooden furniture worth lakhs of rupees on Monday afternoon. The fire was so intense that the Fire Department of Jabalpur Municipal Corporation had to press into action as many as four fire tenders to douse the fire. Fire fighters had to toil hard for hours to control the devastating fire from spreading into adjoining shops and extinguish it early. As the fire broke at wooden furniture shop, it took no time in spreading into three floors of the building.
Fire fighters had to toil hard for hours to douse the fire completely. Spokesman, Fire Department informed that one Vishal Chandok runs New Era Furnitures, a furniture shop cum godown in Kohinoor Tower near Omti Chowk. The shop caught fire at about 12.30 pm, on Monday. He said, the neighbor of Chandok saw fumes billowing out of the shop. He immediately informed the shop owner about the incident. Getting the information, Chandok informed Fire Department about the incident.
Soon after receiving the information, the Fire Department sent four fire tenders one after the other to the site to combat devastating fire. Till the fire fighters reached the site, the fire had already engulfed huge stock of furniture kept in the shop and at workshop, located on upper floor of the building. The fire fighters had to make tirelessly efforts to douse the fire. Huge stock of furniture and other allied things were charred completed in the fire. The Fire Department has estimated the loss at over Rs 4 lakh.
