A 17-year-old boy committed suicide by hanging self at his residence located in Rajeev Nagar under Ashoka Garden police station in the early morning hours of Wednesday. He was a student of high school and had appeared in board exams this year through private mode. According to investigation officer ASI Kaushlendra Singh, the deceased has been identified as Sonu alias Bhanupratap, 17, son of Kailash Nath Shakya, who basically hails from Shyampur of Sehore district, and presently living in New Rajeev Nagar near Semra Kalan area under Ashoka garden police station limits.

The deceased would live with his parents and two younger siblings, including a sister and brother. His father Kailash Nath works as a supplier of domestic pressure cookers in the Ahsoka Garden area. They live in a rented accommodation in the area with other families also sharing the building. He took the extreme step between 5:30 and 7:30 am, when his family members were asleep and Sonu locked the door of his home from outside and went in a gallery near toilet where he hanged self with a rope. His parents when informed about it, they brought him down and police was informed about it.

However, it was not told by his parents whether he had passed or failed in the exam as before declaration of the class X result by MP Board, he took the extreme step, therefore, family members didn’t check his result. SHO Ashoka Garden Umesh Yadav said that the deceased was found hanging at around 7:30 am by the residents of the building. He said that the deceased had used a rope to hang self in the arena when others were asleep. He said that the deceased’s family has not told about his exams and that it hardly seems a reason behind his suicide. As of now a case under Section 174 of CrPC has been registered by the police while further investigation is on in the case.
