Missing 12-yr-old girl’s mutilated body found, one arrested

The body of a 12-year-old school girl, who was raped before being murdered, was recovered from Manuabhan Tekri, a popular and busy hangout in the city, on Wednesday morning. The girl had gone missing on Tuesday evening from Koh-e-Fiza area after which her parents lodged missing person complaint. The deceased’s uncle, Mukesh Mali said that there were no clothes on the body and her face was smashed in an attempt to prevent identification. Her family claimed that they had lodged a complaint with police on Tuesday and even named some suspects but no action was taken. The girl’s parents have alleged that the tragedy could have been averted if prompt action had been taken by the police. The police have picked up the girl’s aunt and two youths known to her who lived in her neighbourhood and were familiar with her aunt for questioning. CSP, Shahjehanabad, Nagendra Pateriya said that the girl, a resident of Lambakheda, Berasia Road, was a class 8 student studying in Holy Cross School.
 
She is survived by her parents and a brother. Her father Dr Gopal Vishwas runs a clinic in Lambakheda. Usually the girl used to go to her school and coaching classes in a car but on Tuesday afternoon around 3 pm, instead of going to her coaching classes in Karond, she had gone to Manuabhan Tekri along with her aunt Pushpa Vishwas, a student of class 12, her boyfriend Avinash Sahu and one more youth identified as Justin Both Avinash and Justin are pass-out students of Holy Cross School and lived in the deceased’s neighbourhood.
 
All of them went to Manuabhan Tekri in two separate vehicles where Avinash and Pushpa picked up a dispute over some issue and then Justin and Pushpa went away leaving Avinash and the girl behind. Avinash then took the victim to an isolated place at Tekri where he raped her and fearing that she would disclose his identity to her family, he killed her and smashed her head with stones. Later Avinash approached Pushpa and Justin and told them that the girl had gone missing and the trio searched for her and then returned home.
 
Pushpa then informed the girl’s parents that she went missing from Manuabhan Tekri following which parents lodged a missing person complaint at Koh-e-Fiza police station on Tuesday evening. Later when a police team and the girl’s parents were searching for her in the night, Avinash misled the police. But Justin approach the police who got suspicious after he kept on changing his statements. He was taken in for questioning. When Justin’s parents came to know of his detention, they approached Koh-e-Fiza police station in the with a lawyer. Later in the early hours of Wednesday, search for deceased’s girl body was started and the body was found in bushes at Manuabhan Tekri and sent to mortuary of Hamidia hospital for pos--mortem examination. When police checked CCTV footage of cameras of Hamilton Court colony situated at a turn on hillock, all of the accused and the girl were spotted heading towards Manuabhan Tekri on a scooter and a bike around 4 pm and later they were seen returning around 6:10 pm but the victim girl was not with them.
 
Additional Superintendent of Police Zone-3, Manu Vyas said that the police had arrested two youths, Avinash Sahu and Justin, on the basis of statements given by the girl’s family. In the initial probe it has come to fore that the girl was raped by Avinash Sahu and later killed. Later apart from charge of abduction, sections of 302, 201 and 376 of IPC and ¾ of POCSO Act were registered against accused Avinash. Later on Wednesday night, residents took out candle march at Lambakheda to protest against the heinous act and showed their anger demanding capital punishment for the accused.
