Naxalites burn down 36 vehicles in Gadchiroli

Charred vehicles which were allegedly torched by Maoists, at Kukheda town in Gadchiroli district in Maharashtra on Wednesday.

ONCE again baring their violent face after a long gap, Naxalites burnt down as many as 36 vehicles belonging to a private contractor at village Dadapur in Kurkheda taluka on Tuesday night. According to reports, more than 150 Naxalites armed with weapons entered the village, which is around 15 kilometers from the taluka headquarters of Kurkheda in north Gadchiroli, and set the vehicles on fire after breaking their diesel tanks.
 
Besides vehicles like trucks, tractors and road rollers, the outlaws also burnt down two generators and two office-sheds of the contractor. All these vehicles were parked near the camp set up by the contractor for the construction of road. Presently the construction of Purada-Malewada-Yerkad National Highway No. 136 has been going on for the last few days. A company from Durg (Chhattisgarh) Amar Infrastructure Limited was doing this work, it was reported.
