This latest development has come as a major setback for PRSU which is enjoying NAAC Grade ‘A’ for its overall performance

None of the universities from Chhattisgarh has been able to meet the criteria fixed by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) when it comes to performance by these universities in developing human resource and faculty development. Unfortunately, two major universities of Chhattisgarh such as Pt Ravi Shankar Shukla University (PRSU), Raipur, and Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya (GGV), Bilaspur, failed to impress the NAAC that had reviewed the performance of the Academic Staff College Human Resource Centres of these varsities along with the Centres of the other universities across the country. The NAAC released the list of 66 universities which have been divided into three categories - such as Performer, Under Performer and Non Performer, on the basis of the performance by their respective Academic Staff College Human Resource Centres.

The two Chhattisgarh universities have been awarded the status of Non Performer. While PRSU scored only 18 points, Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya did fair by scoring 34 points, as per the list released by the NAAC. The ones which have scored more than or equal to 60 points have been awarded the status of Performer and the ones that scored between 60 and 40 have been awarded the status of Under Performer. Similarly, the ones which have scored less than 40 points have been awarded the status of Non Performer. Only 13 universities out of 66 have made it to the list of performers with Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Haryana, scoring the highest 71 points.

Similarly, 46 universities have been awarded the status of Under Performer and seven universities, including PRSU Raipur and GGV Bilaspur are Non Performers. Meanwhile, the latest development has come as a major setback for Pt Ravishankar Shukla University (PRSU) which is enjoying NAAC Grade ‘A’ for its overall performance. One of the PRSU officials, who did not want to be names, said that the Academic Staff College Human Resource Centre of PRSU has no full-time director and staff. The centre is responsible for faculty development and orientation activities, he said.
