THE mood in Bharatiya Janata Party camp in Chhattisgarh is upbeat after the Exit Polls on Sunday predicted the ruling National Democratic Alliance government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, more or less a clean sweep in Lok Sabha Elections – 2019. The exit poll predicts over 300 seats for the NDA in the 545 seat Lok Sabha. While in Chhattisgarh the Exit Poll has predicted 7-9 seats for BJP. The final Seventh phase of polling for the Lok Sabha Elections – 2019 concluded on Sunday and now the people are awaiting eagerly for the counting scheduled on May 23. However, the Exit Polls survey, which was released by almost all electronic media channels highlighted landslide victory for the BJP led NDA combine.

In the five significant states having largest number of Lok Sabha seats, i.e., Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, West Bengal, Bihar as well as Chhattisgarh, the Exit Polls has predicted results in favour of BJP. Reacting on the Exit Poll results BJP National Vice President Dr Raman Singh, said Exit Poll has endorsed the faith expressed by people on Bharatiya Janata Party and leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said people of the country have decided to back PM Modi and accordingly have elected a government which would be led by him. He said the BJP was expecting that the people will repose their faith and the exit polls have endorsed their faith that the party will be getting over 300 seats. He said the people were sensible enough to reject the greedy offers made by the Congress and went with the development and nationalistic agenda of the Prime Minister Modi. Dr Singh expressed his gratitude to the people from Chhattisgarh and all over the country for the support to BJP and Prime Minister Modi.

Dr Singh said in Chhattisgarh also the Congress had managed to come to power by telling blatant lies but within a short period of four months people have come to know about the Congress’ reality. In Chhattisgarh, although the Exit Poll is giving 7-8 seats to BJP but as per our own estimate, the party will be doing even better, Dr. Singh said and this will be known on May 23. Dr Singh added that the results of the Lok Sabha Elections – 2019, is a tight slap on the face of persons who tried to mislead the innocent people for the sake of power. Senior BJP leader and former Agriculture Minister Brijmohan Agrawal has stated that the Exit Polls are indicating that the people of the country are in favour of NDA and want that PM Modi should again become the Prime Minister of India.

He expressed confidence that the NDA-BJP will get over 300 seats while in Chhattisgarh also the BJP will all the seats. He said that if BJP wins as predicted in Chhattisgarh, it will prove that the people not only came out in support of PM Modi but also that they were unhappy with the 4-months’ performance of Congress government here. Congress party rejected the exit poll predictions that indicated that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will once again form the government at the centre by winning nearly 300 seats in the Lok Sabha elections. An aggregate of 10 exit polls predicted that the Congress will get four of the 11 Lok Sabha seats in Chhattisgarh and the BJP will get seven. Rejecting all the exit poll predictions, Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CPCC) Secretary and State Spokesman Vikas Tiwari claimed that all exit polls would be proved wrong on the counting day, on May 23.

Tiwari stated that the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) would form next government at the centre. Vikas Tiwari claimed that the people of Chhattisgarh have shown trust in Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Congress National President Rahul Gandhi’s NYAY Scheme and this will be exhibited on May 23. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel tweeted on his Twitter account on Sunday and said, “Modi Ji, wait till May 23. Now the public’s mandate still remains to come. Before the result, Modi Ji went with bag and baggage.” The Congress party had registered a landslide victory in Chhattisgarh by winning 68 assembly seats out of 90 seats in the last year’s assembly elections. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, BJP had emerged as the single largest party in the state with 10 seats and the Congress had won only one seat.

The exit poll results predict at least two to three seats loss for BJP even as it may still maintain an edge over Congress. Polls for 11 Lok Sabha seats in Chhattisgarh were held in three phases on April 11, 18 and 23. Bastar constituency was the only seat to go to polls on April 11 Polls to Kanker, Rajnandgaon and Mahasamund seats were held on April 18 in the second phase and the remaining seven Lok Sabha seats of Surguja, Raigarh, Janjgir-Champa , Raipur, Durg, Korba and Bilaspur witnessed polling on April 23. Congress’ Shiju Anthony terms exit poll results a mere propaganda as most surveys give BJP majority in Lok Sabha polls. Anthony said that in assembly elections also the exit polls had predicted a victory for BJP but Congress swept away their hopes and same will happen in Lok Sabha also. “We are confident to win all the seats this time and I don’t trust Exit Poll gossip,” he added. Vijay Baghel, Lok Sabha Candidate of BJP from Durg said that the Exit poll predictions normally go right when there is contest between two parties. BJP will repeat the 2014 results and BJP will win in the state too. While in the country BJP may win almost as many seats as it did in 2014. An amalgamation of all surveys, suggested that the BJP-led NDA may easily get 300 plus seats in the 542 seats of Lok Sabha that went to polls. Usha Tawri, District President of BJP stated that Modiji is returning to power with a bang, silencing and stunning opponents.
