Steel City reels under searing heat at 440 C

With the mercury crossing 43 degree Celsius, the residents from Steel City are reeling under the sweltering day-time temperature over the past couple of days. Bhilians witnessed scorching heat on Sunday with mercury touching 44 degrees Celsius and residents are waiting for summer showers, which is nowhere in sight. With escalating heat, the residents of Twincity are wilting under the grip of scorching heat and they are experiencing a heat wave-like condition since last couple of days.
 
The scorching summer at present is proving devastating for the denizens of Chhattisgarh, as the mercury has already crossed 42 degree Celsius in some parts of the state, and people are scared of high temperature, waiting for them in the forthcoming ‘Nautappa’ as they are considered as the hottest nine days of summer. And the prediction of Met officials says that the mercury would escalate two to three notches above the normal temperature during ‘Nautappa’ while leaving people vulnerable to heat strokes. In motion of common belief, mercury’s shooting would certainly follow the nine-days of Hindu calendar’s prediction of ‘Nautappa, which points out that these are the hottest days of year.
 
This year, prior to ‘Nautappa mercury has already soared to 43 degrees Celsius in the city, and it is expected that the first three days of ‘Nautappa’ would certainly be unbearable at 43 degrees to 44 degrees Celsius. Meteorological Department pointed that the first three days of ‘Nautappa’ (nine days of high temperature in summer) would be sweltering hot in the range of 43- 44 degree Celsius, and would prove devastating in the succeeding days with no respite from escalating heat.
 
The forecast of Meteorological Department says that there is a possibility that this year’s ‘Nautappa, would be more scorching and unbearable as compared to that of last year. The temperature is likely to cross 44 degree in Twincity and its neighboring areas during Nautappa, which is scheduled to commence on May 25.
