IRSDC presents redevelopment plan for Nagpur Railway Station to NMC

Indian Railway Stations Development Corporation (IRSDC), on Wednesday, made a presentation regarding redevelopment plan of Nagpur central railway station in Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC). IRSDC officials including P S Uttarwar, Expert Architect; Ashwini Kumar, Executive General Manager; Paromita Roy, Deputy General Manager (Urban Designer); and Alisha Akbar, Architect, made the presentation before Abhijit Bangar, Municipal Commissioner. Pramod Gawande, Assistant Director, Town Planning Department of NMC, was present prominently on the occasion. With the help of a power-point presentation, the IRSDC officials shed light on the proposed plan for redevelopment of Nagpur railway station. As per the plan, Nagpur central railway station is to be transformed into a Class-I station.
 
Nagpur station is among the A-1 stations selected by IRSDC in the country. A team from Belgium had inspected the station. While preparing a plan for redevelopment of Nagpur railway station, the planners faced paucity of space.
 
Hence, they have prepared a model that involves acquisition of land near railway station, Sena Bhavan, Madhya Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation station, Model School, said Ashwini Kumar. He appealed to the stake-holders to participate in the redevelopment process. After watching the presentation, Abhijit Bangar assured IRSDC and Railway administration of co-operation of NMC. Tejinder Singh Renu, Hemant Gandhi, Atul Pande, Kailash Jogani, Capt Chandramohan Randhir, Hemant Nanoti and other dignitaries were present in the meeting.
