Nagpur’s GDCH is 10th best institution in country, says survey by ‘India Today’

J B Science College, Wardha, the only Science college from Nagpur region, features 66th in the list
Principal Correspondent The ‘India Today’ survey adjudged Nagpur’s Government Dental College and Hospital (GDCH) as the 10th best college among all the dental colleges in the country. Many other institutions of Nagpur also figured in the list of top colleges of various streams.

How ranking is done
 
List of colleges offering full-time and in-classroom courses and their three pass out batches till academic year 2018-19 were churned out
 
Experts with rich experience in their respective fields were consulted to frame the parameters for different streams
 
Comprehensive objective questionnaire was designed
 
Data was verified
 
Perceptual survey about the colleges selected was carried out among 1,787 well-informed respondents (560 senior faculty members, 291 recruiters, 381 career accelerators and 555 final year students) across 24 cities
 
In the survey, Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) stood 19th among all the Government Technical Institutes and Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management (RCOEM) secured 23rd spot among all the private engineering colleges in the country. J B Science College, Wardha, run by Shiksha Mandal Wardha, is the only Science college to figure in the list of top institutes that earned 66th rank. GDCH is catering to the need of patients that come not only from Nagpur but also from various parts of Vidarbha and other states. It has earned so much respect that even several High Court judges, bureaucrats, preferred it.
 
Academically also it has maintained a good record producing a group of class students. It is marching ahead with a great pace under the leadership of Dr S M Ganvir, Dean. In technical institutes too, RCOEM, one of the best colleges in Central India, stood at 23rd number in the country among all the private engineering institutes. RCOEM is an autonomous institute and earned a different reputation. It is probably the only college that conducts the admissions of management quota inviting applications from the students in an transparent manner. VNIT secured 19th rank among the Government run technical institutes. G H Raisoni College of Engineering secured 85th rank.
 
Tulsiramji Gaikwad Patil College of Engineering stood at 167th. Priyadarshini Institute of Architecture and Design Studies (PIADS) secured 21st rank among Architecture colleges while in BBA course Dr Ambedkar Institute of Management Studies and Research secured 119th spot. Shiksha Mandal Wardha’s two colleges occupied the slots among best colleges -- J B Science College, Wardha and G S College of Commerce (132nd rank). It came as a moment of pride for Shiksha Mandal Wardha. Both of these colleges have already earned the status of autonomy.
