People voted me going beyond caste politics, says Gadkari
 
 
Calling victory of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the country as splendid, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis assured everybody that despite the win, the party would remain humble and would continue to serve the people. He was speaking at a massive public meeting to celebrate the party’s victory, at Gadkari Wada premises in Mahal on Thursday. Fadnavis felicitated Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister and BJP MP who secured second consecutive win from Nagpur.

Describing the victory as an outcome of ‘Modi Wave’, Fadnavis said, “Modi Wave is like a Tsunami that has spared none in Maharashtra.
 
 
State President of Congress party Ashok Chavan also has bitten the dust. BJP and its allies have defeated Congress-Nationalist Congress Party combine. BJP has clinched victory in Madha constituency too, to which was associated the prestige of NCP chief Sharad Pawar.” Fadnavis congratulated Gadkari and said that though the Opposition tried to play caste cards in the election, voters did not respond to them. Gadkari has been helping the people beyond caste and creed. In Nagpur’s history no candidate has ever secured more than 57 per cent votes, but Gadkari has achieved the feat. Party will remain grateful to voters, he said. Attributing the credit of BJP’s victory in Maharashtra to Devendra Fadnavis, Gadkari said, “It was the leadership of Fadnavis that made a difference. His contribution to the victory of BJP in Maharashtra is very big. We fought election considering it as a festival of democracy.
 
Some people tried to spit venom of caste politics, but it did not deter me and our supporters. I shall never forget the faith shown in me by voters.” “The mandate has provided us the confidence but we will remain humble. There are several issues to be addressed including water crisis. We have approved Rs 40,000 crore for various projects that will help resolve water crisis. From next summer, people will not face water scarcity,” Gadkari promised. Gadkari was supposed to fly to Delhi for Parliamentary Board meeting of BJP but the aircraft carrying him could not land due to bad weather and it was diverted to Lucknow. From there, Gadkari came to Nagpur and reached Gadkari Wada in Mahal. At his home, Gadkari’s wife Kanchan, daughter Ketaki, daughters-in-law Rutuja and Madhura, and grand-daughter gave him traditional welcome by performing his ‘Aukshan’. Later, along with his grandsons, Gadkari cut the cake with BJP’s symbol Lotus drawn on it.
