The Bharatiya Janata Party won nine out of the eleven parliamentary seats in Chhattisgarh making a reversal of the political fortunes. As the counting progressed by the day and after trends started pouring, it was a grand day for the Bharatiya Janata Party, as it aggressively progressed towards an unprecedented win not only in the whole country but in Chhattisgarh as well. Win in Chhattisgarh matters more as the Bharatiya Janata Party had suffered a humiliating defeat in the Assembly elections held during October-November 2018. Bharatiya Janata Party in 2014 had won 10 Lok Sabha seats, though this time it lost one seat from its kitty, but it amounts to a great win if the humiliating defeat the party had suffered recently is taken into account.

The party made a superb come back within a period of just four months. The party not only worked to re-group itself but also successfully snatched the seats on which Congress were confident of a comfortable win. In Raipur Lok Sabha constituency, BJP candidate and former Mayor Sunil Kumar Soni by polling 8,37,902 (60.01%) votes, defeated his nearest rival and Congress candidate and incumbent Mayor Pramod Dubey who polled 4,89,664 (35.07%) votes, by a margin of 3,48,238 votes.
