Nirman Parivartan Samiti organised a motivational seminar for slum children at Nehru Nagar. Under this, special quiz was organized for children. ASP Bhopal Police Shraddha Joshi was present as chief guest in the function. Addressing the children and students aspiring to crack competitive exams, ASP Joshi said that one should not be afraid of diversity in life and poverty can be removed only through education. She also stressed on the need to become aware of issues and challenges in the society so that proper measures can be taken. Naresh Motwani from Udaan Centre said that it is necessary that children should become police friendly, especially girl children, in slum areas should be aware of helpline numbers and other initiatives started by police to ensure children’s safety.

Children were also informed about vouching against any kind of violence in their areas. They were also given tips about good touch and bad touch and how to raise an alarm if needed. A quiz competition was also held in concluding session and winners were felicitated. Recently, in a joint operation with Childline and Women and Child Development Department officers, Jehangirabad and Ashoka Garden police busted gangs of child traffickers. Suspects belonging to Hyderabad and Kanpur and forced children to beg. Administration feared that such gangs could be active in other areas of the city as well. As per reports, children were held captive and forced to beg.

Motwani said that it is necessary that common public should be made aware of such incidents so that community participation can be increased to fight such social evils. Biggest problem in slum areas in Bhopal is begging among children and child labour. Madhya Pradesh is one of the five states of the country which is a part of convergence of the project of International Labour Organisations. Most of them were child labour working as mechanic, house maid, tailor shops, street vendor, helpers at shops, newspaper boys, assisting at marriage function etc. It was also noted that parents and employers were also involved in pressuring children to work at a young age so that they can add revenue to the family.
