Connect, visibility pave way for Tumane

CONNECT with common man and visibility were the key factors in Shiv Sena candidate Krupal Tumane’s huge win from the Ramtek Lok Sabha constituency for the second time. He won with a margin of 1,26,783 votes. He polled 5,97,126 votes (50.39 per cent) out of 11.84,824 total polled votes. In the last election, Tumane had defeated Congress’ former Union Minister Mukul Wasnik. In this election, Congress’ Kishor Gajbhiye polled 4,70,343 votes which is 39.69 per cent of total votes. Vote share of Sena increased by 0.9 per cent while Congress’ vote share increased by 6.93 per cent.
 
In 2014 election, vote share of Sena was 49.49 per cent while Congress’ vote share was 32.76 per cent. BSP’s Kiran Rodge and AAP’s Pratap Goswami had managed to get 9.049 and 2.46 per cent votes respectively. BSP’s vote share drastically fell by 5.30 per cent and was reduced to just 3.74 per cent in this election. Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi’s Kiran Rodge bagged 36,340 (3.06) votes. In 2009 election, Congress’ Mukul Wasnik had polled 311614 (40.74 per cent) votes while Sena’s Tumane had polled 294913 (38.56%) votes. BSP’s Prakash Tembhurne bagged 62238 (8.13 per cent) votes.
 
Tumane established lead in all the six Assembly segments indicating dominance of Sena-BJP combine in the
district politics.In Katol, Tumane polled 90,368 votes while Gajbhiye polled 68,165 votes. Even in Saoner where Congress’ Sunil Kedar is seating MLA, Tumane bagged top position with 88,117 votes while Gajbhiye polled 80,661votes.
 
Tumane polled 93,648 votes in Hingna, 1,05,603 in Umred, 1,23895 in Kamptee and 93,196 in Ramtek.
In this election, a total of 11,920 (1.006 per cent) voters opted for None-of-The-Above (NOTA) in Ramtek. In 2014, a total of 4,816 (0.46 per cent)voters had pressed the NOTA button. It means that the percentage of NOTA voters has doubled in this election. Interestingly, barring Congress’ Gajbhiye, all 14 candidates lost their deposits.
