   Date :25-May-2019

The social work students of Kumbhalkar Social Work Evening College are likely to get relief next week. At the same time action against the guilty teachers and principal, involved in the marks scandal can be initiated.

The Disciplinary Action Committee (DAC) of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University has summoned five students, principal, a clerk and a teacher, who was co-ordinator for submitting internal marks to the University.

The sources at the University have stated that following recording of statements of the students and other staff members of the college, the DAC was satisfied that the college has played with the future of the students. In the winter examinations of 2018, two students were shown absent, when they actually had submitted the internal assessment reports. While in the earlier examination some students were granted marks, even when they did not attend the study tour.

Following complaints received by the University in this connection enquiry was initiated through the DAC. The affected students also approached the University authorities for redressal of their grievance. Despite delay of over four months, enquiry into the complaints began.

The University had issued summons to the students and the college staff, which was not accepted. However, they remained present after second notice was issued.
The students - Shubham Sur and Atmaram Talate of MSW 1st semester; Manjusha Bhawankar and Rutuja Kinkar of BSW 3rd semester, Amit Wasnik of MSW 1st semester and Amit Andhale of MSW 3rd semester came to know about the folly, when they were declared fail in the examination and marked absent for assignments.

Kumbhalkar College was in the news for granting marks for absent student earlier. Manish Gharde, who did not attend educational tour. Gharde is a Zilla Parishad employee and has been marked present in the ZP record on the dates when the educational tour was taken out. Another students Sandhya Mane was granted 10 out of 10 marks for educational tour, even when she was absent. The Supervisor has marked them absent, but the college principal granted them marks against the law.

The DAC, is learnt to have recommended that the issue of the students should be sorted out within two days. It has also recommended action against the teachers involved in the case.sThe University authorities are likely to take action next week. Another case relating to the same college is also pending with the DAC. It is likely to be disposed off in the next meeting.
