GVKK celebrates ‘Rabindra Utsav’

A colourful cultural programme ‘Rabindra Utsav’ organised by Geet Vitan Kala Kendra marked the 158th Birth Anniversary of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore at Engineers Bhawan Auditorium, Bhilai on Saturday. The chief guest on the occasion was SK basar, ED (Material Management) BSP, while MAnas Biswas, ED (Mines), AK Mandol, GM (Utilities), graced the occasion as guest of honour. At the outset, the function began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and garlanding the portrait of Gurudev Rabindranath by chief guest and other guests. Sarmistha Ganguli and Indrani Mukherjee welcome the guest by presenting ‘saptaparni leaves’ and bouquet a traditional style of Santiniketan. Vice-President, Rajani Sinha presented the welcome address.
 
On this occasion, the guest felicitated three eminent litterateur persons of Bhilai, Gobind Paul, Sarmanrendra Biswas and Dulal Samaddar with Geetanjali Samman for their contribution in the field of literature. The cultural fest began with the vocal performance BY Geet Vitan students ‘Ravi Ke Sur Meh Bauldhara’ a compilation of Rabindra Sangeet based on Baul tune, followed by ‘Amar Prame Manush ache Prane’, ‘Tomar Khola hawa’, followed by Guitar performance ‘Aguner Purasmami Chousao Preneh’ by instrument department students.
 
Under the second phase of its celebration ‘Rabindranatyam Mehnavras’ a dance ballet based on nine emotions was staged by students of Geet Vitan under the direction of Nerityamani Mithun Das. Music was by Shipra Bhowmick (Director) Geet Vitan and Swapnil Chandrakar on base guitar, tabla – Rudra Prasanna Jena, keyboard – Tarashankar Dutta accompanied the cultural programme. Rachna Srivastava and Subhashish De conducted the proceedings of the Rabindra Utsav while Runa Das, Asmita Banerjee, Sarmistha Ganguli, Anushree Dutta, Indrani Mukherjee, Smitha Biswas, Rajil Verma, P Jayesh Rao, Anurag Panna and Sourabh Chakrawarthy contributed their efforts for the successful organisation of the programme.
