Injured T-69 Kanha tigress treated, released in wild along with 3 cubs

An injured tigress T-69 was given treatment at Reserve Compartment No-312 in Chhapri Beat of Khatia Circle in Kanha Tiger Reserve on Monday. Later, injured tigress along with her three cubs were released in the wild and a special team is monitoring their movement as precautionary measure. On May 20, T-69 tigress was spotted in an injured condition in a camera trap. Khatia Circle Officer immediately informed the Field Director of Kanha Tiger Reserve about the injured tigress.
 
Taking a serious note of the information, Field Director L Krishna Murthy immediately called an emergency meeting of concerned officers. Compliance with the directions, separate teams of forest guards on elephants and field teams started a rigorous search for the injured tigress from May 23. Finally, a rescue team found the injured tigress and her three cubs. Acting promptly, Wildlife Veterinarian Dr Sandeep Agrawal along with his team tranquillised the injured tigress.
 
After the treatment of injury collar ID was fixed on neck of tigress and she was released in the wild along with her cubs. A special patrolling team is keeping eye on the movement of treated tigress and three cubs for their security. The operation was successfully completed under the direction of Field Director L Krishna Murthy by Deputy Director, Anjana Suchita Tirkey, Wildlife Veterinarian, Dr Sandeep Agrawal, Assistant Director, Sijhaura, Sunil Kumar Sinha, Park Superintendent, Sudhir Kumar Mishra, Circle Officer, Khatia, Jitendra Awase and Circle Officer R B Pathak and other employees of Kanha Tiger Reserve.
