Man arrested with stolen booty worth Rs 1 lakh

A team of Raipur police’s cyber cell arrested a 31-year-old thief, who steals valuables from dickeys of mopeds in Raipur, and recovered booty worth Rs 1 lakh from his possession. “The personnel of cyber cell arrested a thief identified Prateek Soni (31), a native of Madhya Pradesh and currently residing in Jagruti Nagar under Urla police station, in connection with thefts from two-wheelers dickeys took place at separate locations in the city.
 
From the possession of arrested thief, police seized a debit card, three mobile handsets, Rs 20,000 cash, ornaments, whose estimated market values would be around Rs 1 lakh. A key used to open dickeys of mopeds and a two-wheeler used in the crime was also seized from the accused,” said police sources. The accused was working in Bajrang Metallic Power Urla, informed police sources.
 
According to police sources, the accused recently broke the dickey of mopeds at separate locations in the city and fled with valuables and an offence in this connection was registered with Khamtarai and Saraswati Nagar police station under Section 379 of Indian Penal Code (IPC), which amounting to punishment for theft. “Precise tip-off coupled with technical evidence, police rounded-up Prateek Soni, who admitted of committing thefts on being subjected to interrogation,” said police sources.
