IRCTC sets up live streaming kitchen at Bhopal Rly Station

With aim to keep tab on quality of food at railway stations and in moving train, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has set up live streaming kitchen at Bhopal Railway Station. Concept of live kitchen streaming will be helpful in maintaining hygiene level of food and also, satisfaction level of the customers. The IRCTC-based kitchen has been set up at platform number one of the Bhopal Railway Station and official inauguration of the same will be held on June 1. The live kitchen will allow passengers to see how their food is being cooked and packed after order confirmation.
 
The step has been taken by the Railways after several complaints received regarding poor and unhygienic food at costlier price. Talking to ‘The Hitavada’, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Uday Borwankar said, “This IRCTC base live kitchen has been developed at several stations across country and it has become possible with the help of artificial intelligence. High definition camera has been installed in the kitchen and the counter where public can see the food cooking and packaging process. All things have been done at Bhopal Railway Station and final inauguration will be held on June 1.
 
” He further informed that, newly set up kitchen is moderated and several equipment have been provided there to cook the food easily along with hygiene maintenance. There are ‘roti’ making machine, vegetable cutting machine, boiler for rice, etc. equipment. Naveen Arora, Deputy General Manager (DGM) Catering, IRCTC said, “We have taken help from stream on web portal where selected stations has been added up for the live connectivity.
 
The idea has been started with Bhopal and Jhansi station. Proposal is there to set up live kitchen at 18 stations under WCR.” Railway officials said that, several complaints regarding poor and unhygienic food had flooded the portal due to which the Railways has decided to start live streaming kitchen at all the stations. Several food poisoning cases have also been reported from railway station. Even many passengers have now stopped purchasing food from station, while they are carrying food from home or ordering through online mode. This facility will be more helpful for those train commuters, who wait for their train and while waiting, they can order and see that how their food is being prepared and packed.
