In order to fill up the large number of vacant B.Ed seats in several colleges across the State, Department of Higher Education (DHE) has started third phase of registration on Tuesday. Online registration for admission to B.Ed and other NCTE courses will be continued till June 1. The department will prepare merit list and release allotment of applicants by June 10. DHE has, this year, decided to conclude the admission in NCTE courses end of June.

There will be no college-level counselling or any fourth round of admission. Till now, DHE has completed two rounds of admission to B.Ed in which only 40 percent seats can be filled up. Remaining 60 percent seats are still vacant in about 588 colleges. In first two rounds, DHE has witnessed 21,881 admissions in several colleges. In first round, there were 12,736 admissions, while in second round, there were 9,145 admissions in colleges across the State. In second round, DHE allotted seats to 21,411 applicants, but less number of candidates confirmed their admission with fee submission.

The department has completed second round of admission on May 25 and released status of vacant seats on Monday. Third round of registration to fill up the vacant seats would begin on May 28. Concerned over the pending final year result of students, department asked students to provide their marks at help centre for further edit option after result gets declared. These students can participate in the counselling round after filling their choice.

This year too, department is witnessing slow admission ratio in NCTE courses. It may be mentioned that, this year, DHE has started admission to NCTE courses quite earlier with target to complete the admissions by June end. Seats of NCTE courses are going vacant on large scale for past two years, due to which, this year, DHE has started their admission through MPonline. After concluding the first round of admissions, 40,000 seats remained vacant, which put the officials on toes. Continuing the second round of admission to NCTE courses, registered 24,673 applicants out of which 18,280 have successfully verified their documents at help centre. According to information shared by DHE, 17,500 candidates were allotted seats as per their first choice, but even after that, 4,700 left the seats and refilled choices. Against 25,240 allotments, only 12,800 admissions were confirmed in the first round. There are total 52,900 seats of B.Ed across the State.
